Coachella 2024: 9 Acts Not to Miss (Who Aren’t Tyler, the Creator or No Doubt)

It’s officially that time of year again. Coachella 2024 is right around the corner, signaling the start of festival season with a stacked lineup of some of the world’s biggest stars and hottest up-and-coming acts. The two-weekend event is set to take over Indio, CA and will feature performances from Tyler, the Creator, Doja Cat, Lana Del Rey, No Doubt, LE SSERAFIM, Peso Pluma, J Balvin, and so much more.

But what about the undercard? What gold lies waiting to be discovered in the lineup’s fine print? For those of us who don’t have time to go through every act on the Coachella lineup because we still need to figure out what we’re wearing this weekend and next, no need to worry. We’ve got you covered with nine undercard acts you absolutely don’t want to miss.

Barry Can’t Swim

Who can forget Fred Again..’s breakout Coachella 2022 performance (or his last-minute headline surprise the year following)? If there’s one artist poised to have his ‘Fred Again..’ moment this year, it’s Scottish musician, producer, and artist Barry Can’t Swim. Landing himself on numerous year-end lists, including a nomination for 2024 Brit Awards’ “Best Dance Act,” it’s safe to say both the acclaim and hype surrounding Barry Can’t Swim are palpable. His unique brand of electronic music is brimming with life; it paints a vivid, kaleidoscopic rush of euphoria that you cannot help but give yourself over to. Barry Can’t Swim has all the potential to be the dance party of the weekend.

Chapell Roan

Chapell Roan makes music for the girls and gays not afraid to leave it all out on the dancefloor—the tears, fantasies, and the what ifs of it all. Her debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, paints a technicolor portrait of near-pop perfection, twirling through the complicated feelings of love, desire, and acceptance to grand, sweeping effect. Hot off the heels of a tour supporting pop superstar and set to make her Coachella debut, Roan is the future of gay pop, no matter what JoJo Siwa says.

The Last Dinner Party

The Last Dinner Party, and most notably their breakout single “Nothing Matters,” took the internet and the world by storm this past year, and for good reason. The rapturous, melodramatic piece of art rock was arguably one of the strongest debuts of recent memory, introducing the world to a band that felt more akin to seasoned veterans experimenting with a new direction than a band testing the waters with their debut single. Since that fateful release, the UK band has gone on to release a series of similarly impressive singles and their applauded debut album, Prelude to Ecstasy. Making their Coachella debut this year, The Last Dinner party is poised to bring us one step closer to ecstasy.

88rising Futures

88rising Futures is simultaneously the most certain and uncertain act on the lineup. On one hand, it’s the newest music collective from pioneering and internationally-renowned music and media company 88rising, so there’s little to no doubt that it’ll be a set not to miss; on the other hand, Coachella marks the first '88rising Futures' set. The performance follows another landmark set, following in the footsteps of 88rising's Head In The Clouds Forever takeover of the Coachella main stage in 2022, which made history as the first time a record label was given an official slot to showcase acts of their choosing at the festival. From what’s been shared online, we can expect a medley from 88rising’s hottest up-and-coming talent, including ATARASHII GAKKO!, Awich, Number_i, Tiger JK, XIN LIU, YOASOBI, YOON MIRAE, and surprise guests.

ISOKNOCK

Do you want to go absolutely feral this weekend? Then you need to be at ISOKNOCK’s set. The lovechild of best friends and whirlwind trap producers ISOxo and Knock2, the duo has each spent the last few years making a name for themselves in the world of EDM, playing to larger and larger, sweatier and sweatier crowds and Coachella feels like a boiling point. ISOxo and Knock2 both have the potential on their own to emerge as household names in the world of EDM, so it’s no understatement to say that an ISOKNOCK set has all the potential to get the Polo Grounds shaking.

late night drive home

If you told me late night drive home formed in the basement of a far too cool New York venue in the early 2000s, I would have no reason to doubt you. Emerging from a small town outside of El Paso, Texas in 2019, the band struck gold with their breakout hit “Stress Relief.” Falling somewhere between the off-kilter twang of The Growlers and the effortless cool of The Strokes, it’s no secret to see why the song took off like wildfire. With a budding discography that speaks to indie rock’s storied past while paving their own way forward, late night drive home is not to be missed.

Hatsune Miku

What initially began as the mascot for a voice synthesizer software product has since evolved and shifted to a one-of-a-kind pop star. While Hatsune Miku, the mascot for Vocaloid, may not ‘exist’ in the traditional sense, the pop star has collaborated with and shared the stage with the likes of Anamanaguchi, Ashnikko, Lady Gaga, and more. A euphoric mix of traditional pop and radical, pitch-oscillating electronic elements conveyed through a hologram and live band, Miku feels like the literal definition of what one would call ‘the future of music.’ If there’s one act unlike any other on the lineup, it would undoubtedly be Hatsune Miku.

Bb trickz

Don’t let them lie to you; drill isn’t dead, it’s just being carried by Barcelona’s own Bb trickz. First going viral after lip-synching with her girls to her breakout track “Bambi,” the Spanish drill artist has released a steady string of hits and bite-sized projects, including last year’s Trickstar and Sadtrickz. Showing off two varied sides of the rising star, one jubilant and cutthroat and one surprisingly delicate, it’s clear that Bb trickz is set to make waves, no matter what kind of mood you’re chasing. No one is doing it cooler than Bb trickz, so let her effortless flow be your much-needed Coachella oasis.

Erika de Casier

Erika de Casier may just be one of today’s most prestigious songwriters, co-writing four out of six songs on New Jeans’ worldwide smash success of an EP, Get Up, but she’s also an impressive artist in her own right. Born in Portugal and raised in Belgium, de Casier’s music is ethereal yet not complacent. In her latest critically acclaimed album, Still, her angelic voice floats across otherworldly, racing R&B production one moment and eases into an effortlessly cool saunter the next. For those at Coachella looking for their next criminally underrated obsession, look no further than de Casier.
