The Home Team Hype Themselves Up On New Single "Brag" | THE NOISE

Heavy pop band The Home Team radiate confidence on their latest single, "Brag. " Featuring sarcastic yet honest lyrics, the band continues their hot streak of combining rock and pop melodies to create sensational pieces of music that any listener can't help but instantly become a fan of.

Laced with a touch of satire, the single is an ode to believing in yourself, with lead singer Brian Butcher in a quasi-meta/self-insert kind of way poking a bit of fun at people who carry overweighted egos. Opening with an energetic collection of driving drum patterns, pop-infused electric guitar riffs, and thrumming bass lines setting the scene, drawing the listener into the intoxicating production. Lead singer Brian Butcher's rich vocals break the trance of the upbeat intro to deliver lines dripped with self-assuredness, taunting any doubters who could be listeners. On the explosive chorus, his soaring vocals declare, "I couldn't be your savior if I wanted to/ Cause I know what takes to be your next best thing/ If you think you got it goin' on then tell the truth," promising that he doesn't mean to "brag," and challenging the listener to catch him if they can.

"After countless songs written about doubting myself, I decided to finally write one about trusting myself," shares Butcher. "It has taken way too long to get to this point for me since every time I ever felt like I wanted to believe in myself, it just felt like I was beginning to be arrogant. That's the last thing I want to be. So instead, I decided to embrace the idea and write this facetious piece about what it's like to be in the position that I'm in now with our music. By no means do I think our previous or current works are prolific enough to warrant that level of arrogance, but I did think it'd be fun to pretend! Hopefully, the inherent sarcasm translates since sprinkled throughout the song are little quips related to the ego that I feel like I see musicians carry with them all the time."

The accompanying music video, directed and edited by Sam Link, showcases the band's beaming comedic personalities, uniquely connecting with their ever-growing fan base. Opening with Butcher being detained and interrogated by the police, he soon teleports out of his confines and performs the track with his bandmates inside a vault. While the clueless officers theorize and search for the elusive singer, the video cuts to Butcher in a confessional seeking forgiveness before making another grand, inexplicable escape.

The Home Team hit the ground running in 2023 with touring, wrapping up a headlining tour in early spring, and joining the stage with acts such as Senses Fail, Don Broco, The Used, and label mates Honey Revenge. The band has new music in the works for 2024, hitting the studio with names such as Zach Jones and Erik Ron.
