It’s the season of giving, and Scottish indie rock quartet The Snuts are gifting listeners an exciting assortment of news.

Following three hit-after-hit singles, the band has released yet another in the form of “Deep Diving,” alongside news of their freshly-announced album, Millennials, set to release February 23, 2024. This album will be their third in four years, ripe with pop-rock anthems grown from the uncertainty and precariousness they’ve experienced through years as musicians.

The Snuts have an undeniable knack for a riff that sticks in your head for days, and their new single is no different. “Deep Diving” plays with percussion from the first chord, intertwining synths, bass, and drums for a captivatingly catchy sound. The Snuts build the arrangement around a plucked melody and a buzzing electric bass that are an immediate ear candy duo. This marriage of live and electronic sounds hails to 2010s influences like Two Door Cinema Club and Young the Giant, embodying that early pop-rock energy. Listeners feel the tension thicken as ambient tones create an atmosphere around the vocals and drums that spill over into a bold chorus.

"'Deep Diving’ is a raw exploration of our mortality, the ticking clock of our lives and the consequences of being caught in the maze of one's own mind," shares lead singer Jack Cochrane. The indie rock single speaks to the challenge of authenticity, and the human urge to push down our struggles. “I'm smiling on the surface ‘cause I'm way too proud / Accidentally, on purpose, I’m throwing it down,” sings the band.

“Deep Diving” is an exciting contrast to The Snuts’ previous sneak peeks from their upcoming album, especially their first single “Gloria.” On this track, listeners got a vocal masterpiece from Cochrane, whose voice reached new heights of grit and emotion.

With the release of “Deep Diving” and the news of their forthcoming album Millennials, The Snuts have also announced a US tour for 2024.
