From a teenage girl busking on the street to a stylish singer with blonde hair, Jamie Zhang, formerly known as her birth name “Zhang Meiyi”, has been making waves in the local music scene with her attitude. In 2015, Jamie was discovered by veteran composer and producer Mark Lui in the Chinese singing competition TV series “Sing! China”, and she officially debuted as a singer the following year. Her debut single hit runner-up position in the 903 Top 20 and entered the top 3 in other song charts.
A song by Charmaine Fong took Jamie in a new direction. After her debut, Jamie would still do the street performance in Tsim Sha Tsui. The clips of her singing “Won’t You Stand” by Charmaine caught the attention of producer Jeffery Hui, and he invited Jamie to be the opening act for Charmaine’s first solo concert. After this performance, Jamie resolutely gave up her plan to study fashion design at Shih Chien University in Taiwan and joined the record label Strawberry Fields in 2018. Not only does she participate in music production for most of her tracks, but she also directs her own music videos. Are you ready for what is coming next?
