NAWAS Release "Contact High," a Euphoric Single Made For the Dancefloor

Nashville-based dance-alt-pop duo NAWAS, led by singer and pianist Jake Nawas and producer and multi-instrumentalist Ben McDaniel, team up with powerhouse vocalist and songwriter Heather Russell for their new single, "Contact High." The euphoric effort is teeming with lush production and emotive vocals designed to lure you to the dancefloor.

"Contact High" opens with pulsating beats and rumbling bass, brewing like an impending electro-storm. Over the looming production, Nawas' raspy vocals chime in to paint a scene of a night out full of drugs, alcohol, and partying. He finds himself drawn to someone on the dancefloor, getting "lost in the music and your eyes" and proclaiming, "I don't need another night / I could die right here on this floor." As ethereal, spacey beats blend into the intensifying collage of sound, Russell responds that she's happy to have found them "in this lifetime," with her rich vocals soaring and swelling, keeping the listener on the edge of their seat as the explosive, dance-inducing chorus kicks in.

"'Contact High' is a song that thrives on the dancefloor," shares NAWAS about the song. "It's about everyone else in the room melting away as the music forges a cosmic connection between you and your partner. There's nothing coy or subtle here; the lyrics assert, 'You don't need to chase me, I am right here, baby, I am yours.' Just their touch is all you need to keep the night alive."

"Contact High" follows the duo's last single, "Made For Love," which took the band's infectious brooding alt-pop groove to new places while delving deeper into their classic house and EDM influences. Heralded by Dancing Astronaut as "...the beginning of an electrifying journey," the release features robust, passionate vocals and isn't afraid to explore themes of love and lust with a powerful vulnerability.
