James Mantis Unleashes a Hard-Hitting "SUCKAPUNCH"

Known for his genre-defying bold anthems, Los Angeles-based artist James Mantis returns with the fiery new track "SUCKAPUNCH." Produced by Tony Davia of Younger Hunger, the song was written with the intention to create something that is fun, bold, and carefree. Featuring fast-paced, crashing percussion, along with colliding guitars and a rumbling bass line, the song radiates with a youthful gleam and an explosion of energy.

Mantis shares, "'SUCKAPUNCH" is basically a song about getting in a fight with your neighbors because you're blasting your music and having too much fun. Which I hope you do to this track.“ Instantly engaging the listener, the song fills you with images of people jumping up and down, spreading a feeling of vitality and dousing your life with color.

The new single follows Mantis' 2021 debut EP JAB STEP POP, which saw the artist taking sonic inspiration from artists such as Kid Cudi, Kanye West, and Toro y Moi and combining it with his love of sport. Mantis confides, "SUCKAPUNCH came about after my debut EP. I was itching to get some new ideas out and Tony hit me up to get another one going. I wanted to make something really fun that people could go crazy to and let loose. Once we hit the studio, we made the song literally that same night, we just had a great energy and I think that comes across in the song."

2022 is set to be an exciting year for the Mantis, with more music slated as well as a debut to his live performance.
