Mallika Vie Searches For Healing and Love in "baby baby love me back"

Self-harm is often so natural we wrongly attribute it to tradition, family traits, and our community. We can grow up under a canopy of behaviors that normalize before the pain, the bad habits, and the violence becomes self-evidently destructive. Mallika Vie has walked down that road of addiction, and the product of that recovery could not be more soul-wrenching.

Reserving a sultry, sentimental sound that is usually attributed to fulsome and longing R&B tracks, "baby baby love me back" is instead pointed back at herself, a message of love, uniting body and mind. The simplicity of the concept, tied together with delicate vocals that repeat the chorus like an affirmation, melt pretenses and give pause to whatever harm you are containing right now.

The reserved nature of the song sees Mallika’s immense vocal range shaded from view, but the craft of her songwriting is apparent, and this is an ideal setup for future releases, which are on the horizon. Self-love is the message, for her and everyone, and we can’t wait to have her back because we love her music.
