The Great Escape Is an Uplifting Voice for Immigrants in "Where Do We Go From Here" Video [PREMIERE]
Indie trailblazers The Great Escape just unveilved the video for their deeply inspiring single, "Where Do We Go From Here." The song features passionate and clear raspy vocals atop cinematic soundscapes and soft delicate guitars. "Where Do You Go From Here" is a captivating track about leaving your comfort zone, going new ways, and being true to yourself and your dreams, even when life gets really tough.
The visuals are a bold and compelling statement presenting 30 immigrants and their unique and powerful stories. It is a stunning illustration of the mindset foreigners bring to this country and just how much they enrich society. The video showcases different immigrants in a strong, empowering stance holding up lyrical signs. Courageously sharing their personal journey, these are emotional accounts that will grab you deep in your core. One man accounts the heart-wrenching story of how his sister was shot and killed on her way to school. Another featured story is about a woman coming to America to receive a prosthetic leg. Each tale is a showcase of immense bravery and strength as the thought-provoking question is posed, "Where do we go from here?"
The Great Escape is a band of immigrants themselves. Kristian Nord and Malte Hagemeister came to California 15 and 10 years ago and Cambridge-born Hanna Leess moved to Berlin, Germany, in 2015. "Where Do You Go From Here" is a strong reminder that the USA thrives because of its cultural variety. The song stands up to those who choose to fear the unknown and opens communication with people from different roots, nationalities, or religions.
Born out of the eclectic Venice California community, The Great Escape is constantly surrounded by artists and surfers further facilitating their intense creativity. Taking inspiration from their idols such as Nina Simone and Jimmy Hendrix, The Great Escape's playful yet minimalist sound is authentically relatable.
Nord explained,
"Growing up in post World War II Germany, we learned that it's the most important thing to tell your opinion as loud as you can when you see basic decency being stomped on by leading politicians, and minorities and foreigners being denunciated. We wanted to show that the very large majority of immigrants coming into this country are amazing courageous people."
