Tones and I Embraces Coming Out & Friendship in Passionate  'The Kids are Coming' EP

The Kids are Coming is the latest musical endeavor of nineteen-year-old Australian singer-songwriter Toni Watson, professionally known as Tones and I. Originally hailing from Australia's Mornington Peninsula, the aspiring artist threw caution to the wind in early 2018 and left everything she knew behind in order to take a chance at busking in Byron Bay. Tones went so far as to quit her job and live out of a van for an entire year in order to hone her songwriting and busking abilities. While these were certainly challenging living conditions, Tones' music undoubtedly benefited from her ardor and dedication.

Watson commented earlier this year that she doesn't "need to be like anyone to do well in this life." She has more than proven this true through the success her music is receiving. Currently, Tones And I's "Dance Monkey" is receiving over 20 million streams a week, with the ARIA 2x platinum-certified single reaching #1 on streaming service charts around the world. "Dance Monkey" also sits at #1 on the ARIA singles chart for a record-breaking fourth straight week, making her the first solo female artist in over ten years to hold the #1 spot for four consecutive weeks.

The Kids are Coming EP was preceded not only by the international smash "Dance Monkey,“ but also by the singles, "Never Seen the Rain" and "Johnny Run Away," all of which have been released in 2019. On this debut EP, released via Elektra Records, Watson weaves a passionate narrative centered around both coming out and friendship, all while remaining true to what she and her music stand for. On the opening track of her EP, Tones takes a controversial yet strong position on the side of our younger generation. Often written off as lazy or technology-dazed by the older generations, Tones vehemently disagrees, petitioning that they are a force to be reckoned with.

This is also true of the young artist herself. Tones and I will be embarking on a sold-out Australian tour this September before heading overseas for her first European headline tour.
