4batz Puts the Crowd Under His Spell in 'since y’all say ion drop'

2024 solely belonged to 21-year-old artist 4batz. His stardom was conceived seemingly overnight, scoring features from Drake and Kanye West within a year of being in the industry. With some time away to bask in the unfamiliarity of sudden fame, the Dallas native has returned with two new singles, forming the since y’all say ion drop enough 2-pack.

His last body of work u made me a st4r was widely regarded as one of the best albums in recent R&B history. With a sound completely unique and mystified, paired with a raunchy pen, 4batz concocted a potion entirely his own. Lucky for us, “hope u don’t mind” and “me u & pride” both reassure that he has not strayed from his own recipes.

“hope u don’t mind” demands to be played only under the cloak of night, a song that condenses lust and touch into a two-minute thrill. 4batz knows that while love is R&B’s centerpiece, sex is the machine that keeps it moving. In contrast, “me u & pride” is a bit more uptempo. “She don’t say sorry / She don’t apologize / She rather me before she swallow pride” rings the songs’ chorus, in his signature hypnotically allure that nods to early PartyNextDoor.

He and fellow rapper Anycia have been very public about their whirlwind romance, a referential source for 4batz's new era. He’s ready to explore every facet of love’s intoxication, from the physical to the emotional. With millions of monthly Spotify listeners, he’s built enough of a foundation to explore his own edges, having fun while claiming his reign in R&B’s new age.
