Adrian Lyles Rises From the Rubble in Energetic New Single "Concrete Boy"
Breakout alt-pop artist Adrian Lyles is back with the relentless and fast-paced "Concrete Boy." The single sees Lyles maintain his knack for clever hooks and introspective songwriting, much like his previous hits. Still, it injects it with a more intense, adrenaline-infused production by GRAMMY®-winning producer Oak Felder.
From the start, Lyles' voice is a vessel of emotion, carrying a raw and rugged sound uniquely his own. Heartfelt prose flows out of him, belting, "Somewhere long the way I forgot something you would say to me / Scuffin' up my hands on the concrete you say they changing me." The song delves into Lyles' personal journey as an artist, exploring themes of self-discovery, transformation, and the struggle to stay true to oneself in the face of change. Driving percussion, rich bass lines, and groovy synths back moody guitar riffs and lyrics that see him priding himself on the work he's put in and making it out from Sunset to the person he is now, promising to "give all that shit that you said was not me."
On the track, Lyles shares, "'Concrete Boy' is about the concept of growing up and trying to remember where you came from! It's a two-minute bolt of energy about roots and trying not to lose yourself."
The accompanying music video, directed by John Tashiro, is a visual tour de force that perfectly complements the track's high-voltage sound. Lyles and his band deliver an electrifying performance at a grungy dive bar, capturing the song's raw energy and passion.
The song marks Lyles fourth release, following "King Of Everything," "Somewhere To Go," and "Formalize Me." Earlier this year, the rising star embarked on his first-ever solo tour with almost monday, where he played the new tracks and unreleased songs from his forthcoming debut record.
