Rising star Aisa has come a long way from his boyband days in jaded fantasy, and he continues to carve his own path with the release of his latest single, "Rescue." In the mellow single, the Filipino-American artist reflects on who he gives his energy to and wonders if the people he loves need rescuing.
The single opens with warm, summery guitar riffs and sleek synth patterns that usher in Aisa's soothing vocals. He croons over the dreamy production heartfelt lines like, "Do you need saving? / Or should I save / My energy / For somebody else?" As the track continues, his vocals take a backseat as someone else muses on relationships and offers their perspective on committing your time and energy to someone, leaving listeners with the sage advice, "Yeah if it's the right person / When you devote time and energy to them / It won't feel like draining / ... It'll just feel like time."
The accompanying music video, directed by Miles Murphy, follows a day in the artist's life, opening with him playing his guitar in his golden hour-lit bedroom. The footage then cuts to scenes of him getting ready for the day, doing chores around the house, playing board games with his mom in the kitchen, and singing alone in his garage. It's a simple yet engaging visual that captures the underlying feeling of yearning that seeps throughout the song.
The new track follows the success of his previous release, "First Love," which will both be featured on his forthcoming album San Marino, a project dedicated to his home, growth, and community, set for release in August 2024. Despite being a relatively new voice in the alt-R&B genre, 23-year-old Aisa has already made a unique mark in the music industry with his soulful voice that defies categorization. With influences from artists such as Dijon, Mk.gee, Frank Ocean, Yeek, and Steve Lacy, his music draws listeners into his world of introspection, vulnerability, and innovation and reflects his journey of self-discovery.
