Ever feel like you always fall for the wrong types of people? Like you are forever cursed to the fate of a completely tragic love life. Well, rising R&B sensation Brandy Haze is here to prove that no matter how bad things get, there is always hope. Her latest EP,  That's Unfortunate, takes listeners on a journey through her misfortunes in love. The compelling six-track collection highlights her silky vocals that emanate raw, palpable emotion. From skillfully incorporating a radio host on "77.7 FU" to soulful songs that melt over your ears like butter on pancakes, this offering has it all.

Fusing modern R&B, trap, electronic, and pop, Haze's versatile style truly sets her apart. That diverse quality paired with relatable lyrics has allowed listeners to connect so deeply to her work, a body she continues to refine on That's Unfortunate. Ones to Watch has the chance to speak with the intoxicating talent about her signature sound, latest, and plenty more.

Your unique style of alternative R&B fused with electro-pop makes your music so unique and memorable. How did you develop your vibrant, smooth sound?

I love all types of music from house to rock to R&B. I think I just do what feels right to me. I'm thankful that other people enjoy my music even though sometimes I'm not sure what genre to categorize it in.

Speaking of your sound, who are some musical inspirations that have influenced your rich soulful quality?

Frank Ocean is my all-time favorite artist. I'm very into lyrics and Frank is such an amazing writer. I also would say I was heavily influenced by the '90s and early 2000s pop and R&B hits. I used to listen to everything on the radio, but I loved Paramore, Toni Braxton, and Whitney Houston.

What do you hope people take away from That's Unfortunate?

I hope people get to the end of the project and find it relatable and motivational. I definitely want to spread the message that it's ok to put yourself first and that to keep trying tomorrow if what you want to accomplish doesn't happen today.

Your EP begins with the skit "77.7 FU," perfectly setting the tone for what's to come. How did you come up with such a witty opening?

I'm honestly not sure. I daydream a lot.  Usually, I have no idea what I'm going to do or I know everything all at once. It usually just comes to me out of nowhere.

"California Lies" is so lush. What was the inspiration here?

I think the production definitely inspired the song. I really wanted to make an upbeat record that was fun and exciting and when the violins come in at the end, it gets me every time.

"Unfortunate" is so laid-back sonically, but its message is far from relaxed, as it talks about being fed up with toxicity. What are some signs in a relationship that it is time to cut your losses?

I think when your mood is extremely affected by the person and you start feeling bad about yourself or that you're not worth more. That's when you know leaving the situation is overdue.

What advice would you give to others who feel constantly let down by love?

I would say that love is something unpredictable and out of your control most of the time. It's not going to work every time, but there's always tomorrow.

Who are your Ones to Watch?

I listen to a lot of my friends and people I meet that I feel are really talented. My ones to watch are Yuhbari, LuJT, and Jordn. I'm sure the world will know about them soon.
