carolesdaughter, neé Thea Taylor, has returned to remind listeners that they'll always be a baby to someone in her latest single, "king baby." Juxtaposing gentle vocals with crushing, angsty instrumentation, the indie phenom continues to push the envelope of her craft, blossoming as this new era of music clutches the hearts of listeners old and new.

The single opens with carolesdaughter solemnly teasing the chorus, drawing listeners in as dissonant piano riffs back her soft yet alluring vocals. She reflects on her life and the rapid passage of time, admitting that she doesn't want to act her age, and only makes rash decisions to keep the adrenaline of her youth in her grasp. She croons in the second verse, "I may be young, I've lived еnough... / After what happened, I wonder what too many play / Doin' my homework was once the worst part of my day / I'm just allowed to come so far, come under for it, baby."

Alongside the single is a goosebump-inducing music video directed by Lost Noise. The visual follows the artist as she lurks through fish-eyed fields and a seemingly abandoned house. Armed with a gun, footage of her band performing in a concrete basement intercut highly stylized scenes of her pointing the weapon at some foe and traversing the isolated woods in the dark of night.

The single follows the success of her previous release"beautiful girls (get the ugliest world)." Studded with ethereal vocals and modern electronic sonics, she sings, "Is it my fault that I've seen the worst? No, I'm just a sweetheart in the ugliest world." "The sensitive soul is the more likely to attract negativity, envy, or exploitation from others who are threatened by or resentful of their light 'beautiful girls…' symbolizes the struggle to maintain one's goodness in a world that can be cruel and unforgiving," she explained.
