colby! Continues to Impress With Hypnotic Sophomore Single "Gone To Bed"

Fresh singer-songwriter colby! might have only two singles out, but there’s plenty to be excited about. Today, she’s back with her second release, the high-energy ballad “Gone To Bed,” In May of this year, colby! released her debut single “Don’t Know What To Say,” introducing listeners to her mesmerizing vocals and dark pop direction. With her new single, fans are further introduced to her artistic perspective and poignant pen.

In “Gone To Bed”, the young singer-songwriter explores a problem that spans generations—lack of communication in relationships. The single details colby!’s perspective of being left in the dark because of a mutual understanding with her partner, one where they avoid emotional labor that would strengthen their relationship. Over a guitar strum and a catchy beat she expresses, “All of the words were blank / We had to fill in / You would have told me if I hadn’t gone to bed.” It’s an interesting detail to provide context for the deeper issue at hand, coexisting but not truly connecting.

The track demands attention from the jump, introducing colby!’s impressive vocal ability reminiscent of early Billie Eilish, glowing with similar promise. Her vocals are layered gorgeously and her enunciation engages the listener from start to finish. The bridge of “Gone To Bed” is a standout moment, switching up the tempo and capturing her frustration.

With her first two releases, colby!’s music is already full of personality with a clear path to show it to the world. She began writing music at 14 years old, performing with her older brother while he attended Berklee College of Music. Officially embarking on her own artist project just this May, she’s already experimenting with her sound and reaching thousands of listeners while doing it.
