Cub Sport Revisits Their First Love Story in the Ethereal "Party Pill" Video

From Troye Sivan, Janelle Monà¡e, to Hayley Kiyoko, 2018 proved to be a landmark year for anthemic musical celebrations of LGBTQ+ love. Australian alternative pop outfit Cub Sport, comprised of Tim Nelson, Zoe Davis, Sam "Bolan" Netterfield, and Dan Puusaari, is proudly carrying the torch into the new year with their latest angelic release, "Party Pill."

"Party Pill" transports us back to the first romantic spark between lead singer Nelson and keyboardist and vocalist Netterfield, who are now wed, to present a portrait of love that feels wholly enveloping its tender sincerity. The dreamlike video for the new single, which is taken from the band's highly-anticipated forthcoming self-titled third album, sees the newlywed couple wrapped in one another warm embrace. Blending the delicate air of dream pop with the overflowing sensuality of nearly-whispered R&B, "Party Pill" is as transcendent a love song as they come. Cub Sport spoke with MTV's TRL on the inspiration for the new single, sharing,

"Bolan and I first fell in love when we were 17 but I was super scared of what would happen if I came out and decided it'd be better for us to just be friends. This part of our story had been weighing on my heart for a long time and I'd held onto a lot of shame and embarrassment, but I realized last year that I needed to let go. So, I finally turned the pain of those years into something beautiful and it feels like I'm setting myself free. Love is stronger than fear. When you live in love, there's a lightness that follows."

The love Bolan and Netterfield sing of, through a range of lush harmonies in "Party Pill," is magical and a heartfelt reminder of just how lovely, well, love is.
