Danny Dwyer's "System Overload" Is an Intoxicating Dancefloor Meditation

After years of being the artist who inspires your favorite artist, not to mention touring with, writing, and producing for them, too, genre-defying artist and producer Danny Dwyer is back with his latest single, "System Overload." The enthralling single will feature in an upcoming double EP with guest appearances from his community of noteworthy friends such as Lava La Rue, Abhi Raju, Roy Blair, and Jeremy Zucker.

The single opens with a collage of ethereal, whirring beats, gentle, looping electric guitar strums, and Lava La Rue's angelic, lilting vocal melodies on the hook. Over the entrancing production, Dwyer narrates how he forgets all of his troubles when he's with his special person, singing, "I don't check my phone / It's a system overload / I won't text a lot / But you know I miss you though / You're upset I'm not there / But I've been yours girl since we met." Halfway through, the track takes on a more high-octane energy with shaker-led percussion, sonic glitches, and more vibrant, bordering screaming vocals coming into the mix.

"For 'System Overload,' I wanted to do something different and play with styles a little outside of what I'm known for," shares Dwyer about the single. "Me and Lava started the song a while back while they were visiting LA. Lava and I have only met three times, and we always make something special every time. I knew as soon as Lava mumbled, '"I won't kiss and tell,' that the song was there and special."

The accompanying music video, directed by Paris Mumpower, matches the experimental, endorphin-inducing vibe of the electronic-infused single. The visual follows partygoers, played by notable actress/model friends including Rainey Qualley, Renée Murden, Madison Wild, Sabrina Quesada, Emma Brooks, and RJ Chumbley, to name a few, as they navigate a hazy party, spending the evening dancing and drinking, and connecting with each other as the intoxicating production takes hold.
