DJ_Dave Reignites an Early Spark of Inspiration in "Break"

Algorave and live code musician DJ_Dave has blown our minds once again with the release of her latest song, "Break." The track, created solely by DJ_Dave using code, reveals a new side of the up-and-coming artist with a more vulnerable and down-tempo vibe that retains her intuitive and innovative musicality.

"Break" opens with spacey, droning beats before introducing us to DJ_Dave's smooth, intoxicating vocals. The track's dynamic production builds into intricate layers of soundscapes that weave and blend into one another, creating a cohesive, mesmerizing piece of art. Pair that with an accompanying live-coded performance video and we arrive at the perfect intersection of music and tech.

"I made 'Break' over a year ago while I was still learning how to make music within live coding. I was in such a curious and experimental headspace at the time, and I can feel that energy every time I listen to it. I think it's fitting that I'm releasing this song now after having made it so long ago because I'm feeling the intensity of being an artist more than ever, and that's exactly what I talk about in the song. It still represents me as much as any other song I've put out,” shares DJ_Dave.

As a queer woman merging the worlds of music and tech, DJ_Dave is one of the first artists to create music using code with a pop-centric focus and is cementing herself as one of the leading players bringing algorave, an event where people dance to music generated from code, to the mainstream. In addition to being a pioneer in the world of live coding and DJ mixing, performing at major festivals around the U.S., and opening for artists such as Mura Masa, Remi Wolf, Tokimonsta, Pussy Riot, and more, she was also one of the star talents featured in Logitech's 2022 #DefyLogic campaign alongside Lizzo, Bretman Rock, Elsa Majimbo, and more. If there’s one artist you don’t want to sleep on, it’s DJ_Dave.
