The idea of hope is one often difficult to encapsulate. And yet, it is a pervasive theme in art. The attempt to capture that fleeting glimmer of light behind a sky of darkened clouds. That endeavor builds the emotional crux of Jagwar Twin's art, including his latest live session.

Jagwar Twin first introduced himself in brilliant fashion with "Loser," an anthemic ode to the outcast. The infectious single was soon joined by his debut album, Subject To Flooding, which saw him exploring the human condition over an array of '60s-inspired guitar riffs and hip-hop influenced breakbeats. Today, with the release of a captivating live session of "Shine," Jagwar Twin revisiting a standout moment of his acclaimed debut.

"Shine" is an enduring message of optimism that arrives in what feels like our darkest times. Backed by a gospel choir, Jagwar Twin sings of faith and the constant warmth of the sun. While the positivity of "Shine" is impossible to ignore or get swept up in, that positivity is one built on reality. Thoughts of escapism and the world on fire creep into the fray, but Jagwar Twin addresses those feelings head-on, reminding us that the sun will still rise tomorrow. He spoke further on the message underlying "Shine," sharing

"We're all connected by our shared humanity, but the state of the world has us completely disconnected from each other. It's easy to allow the negative energy to bring us down, but if we all get up every day and choose to put positive energy out into the world and share it with each other we can truly change the world. A single drop of rain can be the start of a flood."
