Ahead of his upcoming joint DJ set with Johnnie Guilbert at Emo Nite's 10th anniversary, Youtuber turned alt-music sensation Jake Webber closes the year on a dreamy note with the release of his latest single, "dead hair." The track is adorned with shoegaze-inspired instrumentation as Webber takes listeners on a journey through understanding and accepting the love you're given.

"dead hair" opens with a lulling, almost hypnotic intro fueled by vocal cooing and lilting guitar riffs. The track then ups the ante, bringing high-octane drum patterns and thrumming bass lines to add an edgier texture to the mesmerizing mix. Webber opens up to his lover, "Burning out, you will see / I'm the pain you need to feed / Feeling loved, cuts too deep / Run away, I'm ugly." Wrestling with his intrusive thoughts of being a burden to his loved one, he's amazed when he wakes up the next morning to find her there still beside him.

The accompanying music video follows Webber and friends on a night out in LA. Smoking cigarettes and fueling up for the night on Red Bull and Twizzlers, scenes of the group dancing the night away at a party intercut more intimate footage of the artist singing alone in the backseat of the car.

The new single is the first release since dropping his latest EP, MESS. The four-track body of work is a fierce collection, with standout songs like "I Know We're Dying" and the titular track "Mess" highlighting Webber's continued growth as an artist and songwriter.
