Joey Valence & Brae Go From 0 to 100 in "Gumdrop"

Fast-rising, viral alt-punk-rap duo Joey Valence & Brae continue to blow our minds with the release of their new single "GUMDROP." The track, which will be featured on their highly anticipated debut album, PUNK TACTICS, out September 8, sees the duo seamlessly blend elements of hip-hop, hyperpop, and more, creating a sonic experience that has listeners reaching for the repeat button after the short yet addictive creation comes to an end.

The single opens with a retro-futuristic combination of warped vocals singing, "I can be your gumdrop / I don't give a fuck til the motherfuckin' beat drops" and video game-inspired synths and beats. Steady and intense percussion is added to the mix to drive the track as Joey and Brae go off, rapping seemingly nonsensical but insanely catchy bars.

"'GUMDROP' is a super experimental song that combines a lot of elements of modern hip-hop with hyperpop and drum and bass, all genres that we enjoy," said Brae. "Joey had the beat playing for fun during the album writing sessions without intending for it to become a full song. This is the only song where we did not write vocals before recording, and everything was recorded in one take. This song might be the greatest song ever."

The accompanying chaotic, guerilla-style, breaking news-themed music video throws you head-first into the exhilarating world of Joey Valence & Brae. After the parodic newscast, the visual transitions into a vibrant world bursting with personality and humor while highlighting their deeply accomplished musicianship and love for their craft.

Before the release of their larger-than-life, 14-track PUNK TACTICS' album, which was produced in Joey's home bedroom in State College, PA, the duo will be taking their chaotic, anarchic live show overseas for their second UK Headline Tour, which includes a London show at The Garage on August 24, their second appearance at Reading & Leeds Festivals, a set at Boomtown Festival, plus opening for Limp Bizkit at Gunnersbury Park before returning to the US for Sea.Hear.Now Festival in Asbury Park on September 17 and an opening slot with LSDREAM at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on October 12.
