Joey Valence & Brae Announce Third Album, HYPERYOUTH, With Electric Double Single

Joey Valence & Brae are truly the gift that keeps on giving. Following the electrifying release of “WASSUP (ft. JPEGMAFIA)” in June, the duo announced their third album, “HYPERYOUTH” with the drop of the title track and single “Live Right” in the leadup to the mid-August release date. A well anticipated follow up to the critically acclaimed PUNK TACTICS and NO HANDS, JVB continues to shine in their maximalist reinterpretation of classic emcee / rapper duo with a refreshing, vibrant style.

“HYPERYOUTH” the eponymous open to the project is a ceremonious uproar. Boisterous and unapologetic, the track is a reflection of the well-defined sound (and identity) that the duo have cultivated in past works in quick, fiery quips. “I got style that you cannot teach How I dress, how I walk, how I rap//let me preach.” Celebrating their success, in addition to their youth as the bridge approaches, “All you want to talk about is you//I wanna reminisce about youth.” And approaching the track’s close with a call to action, “Let the drums speak the truth//We are the hyperyouth, yeah.”

Where “HYPERYOUTH” perfectly captures the rise, “LIVE RIGHT” is a poetic take on the fall. Balancing a pulsating rhythm with poignant, reflective lyricism, the track is a vulnerable slip behind the mask of youth, and captures the fear of growing older in its’ verses, “I'm kinda scared to admit I'm afraid of growin' up//No one here wants to dance//Things are changing//You are changing.” A tone shift that can otherwise feel extreme, is full-circle, and paired with a six-minute music video directed by Valence to accompany the two tracks, there is no question on the seamless transition between both.

Joey Valence & Brae have tapped into a sound that is kaleidoscopic and authentic to the duo’s innovative style. With HYPERYOUTH set to drop August 15, there is no question that this project is not one to miss.
