Spring has finally sprung, and while some of us are spending the first days of the season diving into Drake and Future lore, others are hastily crafting the foundation of their upcoming spring playlist. Though this year has already been jam-packed with high-quality releases from many of modern music’s titans, no artist is more deserving of a spot on your weekly rotation than indie-funk superstar Johnny Yukon.

You might recognize Yukon from classic bangers like 2022’s “Moment” or the BNYX-assisted “Gave U My Love,” which was released alongside his MOVIES! WORLDWIDE: PART 1 LP. Whether you know him as the genius behind “Psycho Lover!” or the young heartthrob taking over TikTok with his unique and retrofuturistic blend of funk, R&B, and indie-pop, there’s no denying that Yukon is just as undeniable as he is inevitable.

This week, Yukon returns to us with the long-awaited single “Right now!,” an off-kilter and laid-back bop perfect for spring afternoons at the park or loudly yelling about Drake beef in the club. Over pounding percussion and vintage synth melodies,  Yukon showcases an affinity for perfectly-polished and feather-light falsetto, so much so that Justin Timberlake is expected to announce his retirement any day now. The DIY visual for “Right now!” amplifies Johnny’s carefree yet effortless energy to a magnitude previously unseen by neither man nor machine, proving himself worthy of your eyes and ears as the flowers start to bloom.
