I am sad to report that fall is finally upon us. You may remember this season from last year, a time where the summer warmth of June and July unfortunately departs, leaving behind the once-viridian Los Angeles to be colonized by an amalgamation of auburn and nut-brown foliage. While many of you may be working hard to get your fits off this Libra season, perhaps that time would be better spent organizing your fall rotation before cuffing season arrives. What to add during a time so full of new music releases? We have an easy answer to that question.

Virginia native Khi Infinite makes his long-awaited return this month with his debut album  Take What You Need, a carefully-curated blend of hip-hop and R&B tracks that are sure to capture your attention after just one listen. He's been slowly building momentum over the past year, with a steady release of standout singles.

Though he's been releasing singles since 2018, Khi Infinite's sound has never felt as focused as it does on Take What You Need. Whether he's flexing a slick and laid-back swagger on "Love For Yah" (think Blxst meets Saba) or pouring his heart out on the impassioned-yet-bittersweet "Answers," Khi spares no expense on his newest project. Between his crystal-clear artistic vision and affinity for perfectly-polished bangers, listeners are given a consistently dynamic and versatile performance from one of hip-hop's most promising up-and-coming acts.

Tracks like the lofty album opener "Drug of Love" show Khi lost in a jazzy dreamscape of southern-flavored hip-hop, while the album's closer "Blue" is almost the exact opposite, with distorted electronic vocals over a washed-out and ambient mix taking center stage. Take What You Need is full of moments like this, glimpses of Khi leaning into new sounds that incorporate elements of disparate genres, ranging from alternative rock to beach pop, without ever sacrificing his trademark sound.
