Letting It Linger with Ezra's "Hourglass" feat. Powfu

Bronx-born singer-songwriter, Ezra, delves into the universal experience of time standing still in his latest single, "hourglass," featuring Powfu. This deeply resonant ballad captures the feeling of being frozen in time after a relationship ends. With the striking metaphor of an hourglass tipped on its side, the track speaks to the yearners of the world, those whose emotions linger a bit longer than expected after a breakup.

The single opens with stripped guitar strums as Ezra's emotional vocals croon the poignant line, "Thought you and I were meant for this/ The distance shouldn't hurt/ I'm overcomplicating/ What's never supposed to work." As the melodies begin to swell amid the atmospheric production, he channels the introspective pulse of the emo and pop-punk scene while fusing it with arena-ready pop precision. On the hook, the song transforms longing and emotional tension into momentum, bursting with a cathartic release that feels both cinematic and personal as he belts the line, "And I can't move on/ It's like the hourglass is stuck on its side."

Powfu's presence on the track is equally powerful, adding an intriguing texture to the production that keeps listeners hooked into the song's world. His flow delivers heart-wrenching lines that reflect on the past and the decisions that he now has to live with. Overall, it's a seamless collaboration that sees the pair play off each other well as they share in the emotional journey of the song.

Alongside the release was the latest episode of Ezra's ambitious mockumentary project, directed by actor and filmmaker David Mazouz. The satirical-yet-intimate series unfolds in episodic segments alongside each single leading up to Ezra's debut album, Spoke to Soon. Following last month's second clip, its latest episode playfully deconstructs the mythology of rising artists while giving fans a candid look at Ezra's creative world.

Filled with tongue-in-cheek humor and self-aware reflection, the series features cameos from Gabe Saporta, content creator Morgan Cohen, and Mazouz himself. Each episode reveals a letter from the album and film's shared title, creating an interactive puzzle for fans to piece together ahead of its full reveal in 2026.
