LYELL Teams Up With Underoath's Aaron Gillespie On Explosive Single "I Can't Take It" | THE NOISE

Alt/rock powerhouse LYELL continues her mission to empower those around her with the release of her latest single, "I Can't Take It," featuring Underoath's Aaron Gillespie. With outstanding vocals and lyrics that explore mental health, she aims to continue creating music that fans can relate to and rage to.

"I Can't Take It" opens with a collage of fuzzy, seething guitar riffs and faded vocals screaming the song's title. LYELL's addictive vocals ask if anyone out there can be there for her, expressing, "Sometimes I feel like I just want to let go and I really don't care/ 'Cause I'm screaming underwater and I'm stuck in a nightmare." Then, on the climactic chorus, she belts out her frustrations with anxiety over raging, face-melting guitar riffs, crashing percussion, and bombastic production. Gillespie's iconic vocals on the hooks and second verse add a dynamic layer of sonic texture that perfectly weaves into the world LYELL has set up for listeners.

"As someone who struggles daily with OCD (Pure OCD specifically), I wanted to write a song that depicts what living with that and anxiety looks like," shared the singer. "I met Aaron Gillespie (Underoath) at a writing session last year, so when I was working on this song, I instantly thought his voice would take it to another level. I'm honored to have him on it. The song was also produced by Zach Jones (Scene Queen, Nova Twins) and co-written with Matt Merritt."

In conjunction with the single release, Lyell has partnered with the Continuance Foundation, an organization whose primary function is to pair musicians with licensed therapists and coaches, pay for and arrange the weekly sessions and provide support for artists in need, as well as NAMI to donate a portion of the song's profits, as well as raise awareness. Working closely with producers JT Daly (PVRIS, KFlay) and Zach Jones (SceneQueen, NovaTwins), LYELL is gearing up to release a lot of new music in 2023. Continuing to build a community of like-minded music lovers on TikTok, with multiple viral videos and even catching the attention of Kate Hudson, LYELL is a fierce self-starter with a lot to say.
