Night Tapes Dances Under the Stars in the Ethereal "Projections"

London-based dream-pop trio Night Tapes continues building buzz for their upcoming summer EP with their starry-eyed new single, "projections." The penultimate single from the band's assisted memories EP, which drops June 7, "projections" is an upbeat, disco-tempo tune set against a backdrop of '80s synth textures.

Leading with a quintessentially tight rhythm section that oozes with iconic Night Tapes atmospherics, the track lures the listener into a celestial soundscape. Lead singer Iiris Vesik's iridescent, acrobatic vocal melodies soar above the single's tagline, "dancing with projections," on an unforgettable chorus. Overall, the single is yet another stellar, otherworldly Night Tapes effort that inspires and prepares fans old and new alike for the release of their next EP.

"Sometimes you find in yourself what you seek in others," Veslik says, speaking about the track's themes of perception and authenticity. "Fascination always includes a projection, but it could be just a word to undermine other people's emotional realities. If you're in love with someone and you call it a projection, then you just take all the fun out of it as you're undermining the feeling of participating in the relationship."

"projections" is the follow-up to the meditative "every day is a game," which was released last month, continuing Night Tapes' hot streak after the stunning early 2024 single, "loner" and the late 2023 release of "drifting," which has over 2.2 million Spotify streams. In the summer of 2023, they shared their third EP, Perfect Kindness, and toured the UK and Europe, spanning Vienna, London, Bristol, Brighton, Manchester, Copenhagen, Paris, and Tallinn.
