Oscar Lindsey’s “Metal Through Her Lips” Is An Intimate Portrait of Understanding

There are certain qualities to songs that can’t be explained in mere words. Indie-folk newcomer Oscar Lindsey’s “Metal Through Her Lips” is one of those. It’s the lead single of his upcoming album that is sure to hook any ear that’s fortunate enough to stumble upon it. The emotional impact is entirely Lindsey’s vision, seeing as the young artist wrote, recorded, produced, and played the instruments on the track, with the help of some of his widely talented instrumentalist friends. The care and attention to detail is felt through every ounce of the atmosphere “Metal Through Her Lips” achieves, one that is destined to soundtrack the hot, reflective summer nights ahead.

The track, and its sweet vintage-inspired music video with an edge, paint a picture so vivid you begin to understand Lindsey’s intimate artistry upon first listen. More than a love song,”Metal Through Her Lips” it’s about deep understanding and caring for the parts of someone that aren’t necessarily good or bad, they just are. Lost in a garden of sentimental swells and a stunning instrumental labyrinth, Lindsey delivers vocals both empathetic and poetic. He wants to be the solution to each problem beautifully described, but is evolved enough to know understanding is the key to loving, not fixing.

In the end, “Metal Through Her Lips” isn’t one thing. Not sad, but not entirely joyful. Hopeful and caring, without sugarcoating the truth. This is reflected in the final note, a dissonant ending that adds yet another layer to this complex and entirely captivating work of art. If this is the first taste of Oscar Lindsey’s upcoming record, we’re eager to hear the rest of the sonic world he’s been creating.
