From Royel Otis to Mallrat, Australia has been spewing out young talent reformatting their respective lanes with unique and eccentric soundscapes for quite some time now. The newest addition to the lineup is Radio Free Alice, the post-punk quartet who have found themselves in the center of the madness. With six sold-out headlines in London, the demand for their gritty, nostalgic sound is undeniable.

“Rule 31” is the newest offering to come from the musical act. Antsy and fully charged, the single is completely alive. Forwarding a baton passed by acts like Arctic Monkeys and The Kooks, Radio Free Alice has found a way to bottle electricity with searing drums and gripping lyrics. “Rule Number 31, do what I say and it’ll be okay / If we’re tied to the tracks then you know there’s no going back” opens the provocative track, imprinting an almost sinister undertone. “Rule 31 came about during a soundcheck whilst on tour,” frontman Noah Learmonth shares. “The bassline came first and we just built it up from there. We recorded it at Peter’s beautiful house-studio in Connecticut when we had a couple days off from shows.”

“Rule 31” is the most wisened Radio Free Alice’s sound has aged yet, speaking to their inevitable evolution. Joining Geese for their sold-out February tour of Australia, Radio Free Alice is only tasting the beginning of what promises to be a monumental chapter of their career.
