Rebecca Black's “TRUST!” Is a Club Classic

If you need to get down on a Friday while you look forward to the weekend, Rebecca Black’s latest single “TRUST!” is the track to do it to. The singer’s first release since her 2023 debut album, Let Her Burn, is an instant club classic that will keep you dancing and sweating through the cooling fall weather.

“TRUST!” opens with a driving electric guitar before Black’s vocals, reminiscent of early 2000s Britney Spears, kick in. Her sultry vocals pair perfectly with the lyrics, as Black sings to her lover, “Every night you’re coming home / I’ll be laid out for you.” Once the chorus hits, a driving club dance beat is added to the mix, along with the lyrics “Trust / Trust / I can handle you, can you handle?”

The second verse builds on the energy of the chorus and post-chorus, keeping the driving dance beat going with no end in sight. The lyrics also build in their longing, with Black emphasizing what she wants to do with her lover. Black doesn’t hold back, telling her partner, “I can freak with you all night long” and “Oh your moan is my favorite song.” The passion in the song never drops and somehow builds even more in the bridge with Black singing, “While you’re on your way home to me / I’m preparing your fantasy,” and rounding out the bridge with a rallying cry of “Make me feel like I’m your man.”

The song’s accompanying music video, directed by Olivia De Camps, opens with a group of witnesses speaking about Black. They bring up rumors, “I heard she’s banned from singing in seven countries,” comment on her vocal abilities, “She’s been auto-tuned so much even Siri sounds more natural,” and one lone witness defends her saying, “They could never make me hate her.” The testimonies fade out as the song starts and Black is seen dancing under flashing lights with a bedazzled ankle monitor as her statement accessory. Despite being brought into court, Black continues to bring the energy and high spirits. Eventually, the witnesses, and even security guards, join in on a choreographed dance in the courtroom.

While there is yet to be an announcement for a longer body of work, Black called “TRUST!” “the first single” and posted on X that “we’re only just getting starteddddddd.” If “TRUST!” is a sign of what’s to come, Rebecca Black is on the right track.
