Sir Chloe Makes Loving Yourself Worth the Trouble in "Eyes"

Sir Chloe has had a busy summer. She released three singles, opened for Halsey, announced her upcoming album, Swallow the Knife, and she’s not done yet. Now, she’s sharing her latest single “Eyes” with the world.

Described as a modern day “Fade Into You," “Eyes” features a gentle, strumming, acoustic guitar, and soft, yet steady drums. The song is sweet and hazy, reminiscent of a late night conversation with the one you love, where you ignore your exhaustion and fight to stay awake just to have more time together. Sir Chloe’s vocals flow alongside the instrumentation as she sings “It’s your eyes / They’re my first place blue ribbon / For winning the fight / When it’s right, it’s right / Some men want trouble / But I want more time.”

“Much of this record is about recovering from an abusive relationship,” Sir Chloe says. “‘Eyes’ is about falling in love again, and how that love has colored my life, rewired my brain, and made me believe in people again. Love can’t save you unless it comes from yourself, but sometimes you find a love that makes loving yourself worth the trouble.”

Sir Chloe honors the love that has colored her life in the music video for “Eyes,” which stars Sir Chloe and her girlfriend. The two women are seen in white nightgowns, Sir Chloe sitting at the end of the bed, her acoustic guitar not far out of reach, while her girlfriend lays down behind her, facing away from the camera. As the video continues, Sir Chloe lays down next to her girlfriend and twirls a lock of her girlfriend’s hair. The video’s cool blue lighting emphasizes the hazy late night vibe of the song.

“Eyes” is featured on the tracklist of Swallow the Knife, due for release on August 22nd. Following the album’s release, Sir Chloe will hit the road on her headline North American tour in October and November.
