Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers Are Sipping Champagne & Coffee in their Glory [Q&A]

Looking for nervous, fragile and beholden women, quietly expressing their fears & anxieties over a bed of soft indie rock. Then keep looking, because the Australian four piece Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers have just dropped an album,  GLORY, that is loud, present and demanding attention & accountability. The album unfurls as a humble campaign of dynamic rock songs that edge out everything mediocre – it's feisty, fiery post-punk that widens the band's traditionally compressed sound for songs that have big choruses, radio friendly hooks, all while retaining their patented grrrr. Super curious as always to get their versions of this excellent album, coffee & champagne routine, and more, we sent a letter of prompts across the ocean to dig in:

OnesToWatch: Who is Teen Jesus & the Jean Teasers?

Teen Jesus & the Jean Teasers: We’re your favorite indie rock bands favorite indie rock band.

Where are you right now and how excited are you for the album drop?

We’re having some coffees and we're so frickin excited the caffeine is not helping with the nerves. Champagne + coffee = GLORY.

What's GLORY all about?

Self confidence, loving yourself, being incredibly hot, running really fast, eating oysters, kissing strangers, robbing the Louvre.

Do you feel glorious?

Hell yeah we do!!!

Any collaborators or features? Who produced the album?

Catherine freaking Marks produced the album! We wrote it with some friends like Vacations, Japanese Wallpaper, Alice Ivy, Gabe Goodman, Fletcher Matthews and Xavier Dunn to name a few!

Album sounds fun and cheeky as always, but also a little more dynamic? Anything change in studio?

So much! We really feel like now after all these years that we really are professional musicians and there's no imposter syndrome. The biggest thing that changed in the studio is we weren't holding ourselves back and we could do everything we wanted to do, even things we haven’t been able to do before. We broke out of our shackles!!

Besides this excellent album what else should we be on the lookout for?

Headline tour in Australia and New Zealand in May! But before then we’ll be in the pit for Chappell Roan at Laneway Festival and appearing as Sally with Role Model - you heard it here first!!

What's inspiring you right now outside of music?

Zohran Mamdani, Mr Fantasy, reading, Jaida running marathons, Oasis in Australia, Palomas and Sex and the City.

Take us out for dinner; where do we go what do we order?

Bar Rochford in Canberra, we’re getting the chefs menu! A round of extra dirty martinis, a lot of oysters and a lot of yummy food on small plates! Dessert is a cigarette!

Musically who is new but making all the right moves? Who are your current OnesToWatch?

The Belair Lipbombs, Maple’s Pet Dinasour, Ullah, Kate Moth, Bimbo, Xiao Xiao, Dogworld
