Wisp Unsheathes the Painfully Beautifully "Sword" Ahead System of a Down Tour

Wisp unveils the first chapter of her new era, "Sword," a brutally exquisite, icily rendered depiction of internal maelstroms blown to epic proportions. The single follows a breakout 2024, which included the release of her stellar EP Pandora, and ahead of a massive year ahead, including Coachella, Bonnaroo, and supporting System Of A Down in stadiums.

Amid ethereal and distortion-gauzy instrumentation, Wisp gently reflects on people getting lost in interpersonal strife. On the chorus, the percussion comes into the mix in the most satisfying, brain-scratching way, as once delicate yet foreboding guitar and bass take on a blizzardy effect while she croons, "When is it my turn to not live in fear / What are you afraid of?"

Wisp reveals the emotional core of the track, sharing, "'Sword' represents the shame and confusion people feel when loved ones hide them from the world. It's about not having a chance to shine because your partner keeps you in the dark."

The music video for "Sword," directed by Rudy Grazziani and Valeriya Dyatko, is a visual masterpiece that transports Wisp into a vibrant dreamscape of high medieval fantasy. The cavernous castle halls, rich with filigree, echo Wisp's haunting voice, a sentiment further embodied by her white gown's ghostly, delicate frills, almost invisible against a snowy backdrop. An anonymous knight, clad in cold iron, stands as an ominous, heavy presence until Wisp herself dons the metallic shell, creating a unique and captivating visual and auditory experience.

"Sword" is just the beginning of what promises to be an electrifying year in Wisp's musical journey. With festival performances at Coachella, Bonnaroo, and Kilby Block Party on the horizon, and a summer tour with System of a Down, Korn, Deftones, and Avenged Sevenfold, the stage is set for an unforgettable musical experience.
