Yam Haus Spark a Magnetic Attraction With "Color You In" [Premiere]

Indie alt-rock trio Yam Haus are back with their first release since March, the romantic new single “Color You In.” The track marks an introduction to a new era for the Minneapolis group and is the ideal soundtrack for the fleeting sensation of summer slipping away.

“Color You In” is nostalgic, intimate, and straightforward with a sense of subtle intensity. The track opens with a laidback first verse that immediately creates a vibe of understated passion. Its descriptive lyricism takes hold of you from the start, with memorable lines like “It’s just a fantasy / Spinnin’ like rotisserie.” On the inspiration for the track, lead singer Lars Pruitt says, “‘Color You In’ is a song about attraction in all its forms. Attraction can be such a visceral experience. Whether it’s romantic or platonic, it can grab hold of you. There’s something so consuming about wanting to be close to someone, to make them feel whole or be made whole by their presence.” 

“Color You In” is the perfect song for the tail-end of summer. It’s a cinematic experience, mostly due to the beautiful harmonized choir in the chorus that conjures a coming-of-age sensation. This is captured in the song’s impressive music video, a drawn-out representation of “Color You In,” lyric by lyric. Inspired by the legendary “Take On Me” by A-ha, sketches of the band come to life as Lars sings about the magic of newfound love.

Sharing the stage with iconic acts such as The Killers, Flaming Lips, Death Cab for Cutie, and more, Yam Haus are making their mark in the indie alt-rock world and making it count. “Color You In” is an instant replay, perfect for enjoying the romance in everything, whether it's platonic or more.
