Young Smoke Gives New Perspective to Melodic Trap on "Block Boy"

Toronto rapper Young Smoke is making melodic trap music unlike any of his contemporaries. The member of Toronto based collective, Halal Gang, was motivated to rap in part by the tragic passing of his older brother Smoke Dawg. Determined to carry on his legacy, Young Smoke has been putting out catchy and creative trap at a prolific rate.

His latest single  "Block Boy" demonstrates why Young Smoke is an artist to watch. His wild vocal inflections are reminiscent of Lil Baby, but Young Smoke stands out with his melodies and unorthodox beat selection. The "Block Boys" instrumental features signature trap drums, but also high pitched wailing horns that fit well with his untraditional vocals. The track is incredibly catchy with Young Smoke showing off his penmanship and song structure.

"Block Boy" is the first track from his upcoming project that will feature oversight from production veteran Murda Beatz. With his major cosigns, infectious performances, and untraditional style, it's clear Young Smoke is destined for stardom.
