ZPLUTO Talks Sharing Experiences and Reaching for Opportunities

“If you’re listening to my music, you’re coming to Pluto with me”.

With lyrics pulled straight from his journal entries, ZPLUTO (Junior) is taking everyone on a journey out of this world. Relying on a balance of vulnerability and shared experiences, this hip-hop artist manoeuvres himself through his trial and tribulations while documenting every thought through his music. What spotlights him from other young emerging artists is his intention to relate with every listener either by varied interpretations or similar walks of life. “Music is unity. [It] comes from the soul and that’s what you’ll get from listening to my music – it’s all about unity”.

An Aussie artist previously from New Zealand, ZPLUTO is one of few Western Sydney musicians breaking out of the city’s stereotypes, by celebrating the dynamics and representation of the area. Like the origin of his name, his uniqueness from society came with benefits rather than negative attachments. “I felt like I’ve always been kind of by myself, you know segregated from society. I like Pluto because it was once considered a planet and now it’s a dwarf planet so it’s not a part of the solar system now. It’s by itself, hence why I put Pluto together”.

His songs “Impatient”, “Trust Issues” and his latest 2022 single “Berzerk” pools together new-school hip-hop, elements of alternative and subtle lines of rock, catching the attention of tastemakers and industry ears. It’s each singles glossy synths matched together with a bold flow that makes the song distinctly ZPLUTO, yet familiar to fans of Juice WRLD, Post Malone and The Kid LAROI.

While music takes up ZPLUTO’s life nine time out of ten time, the moments he has outside of his career is spent as Junior – his counterpart and most commonly known as his everyday self. “Junior is…Junior is happy. He tries to be optimistic about life. The two kinds of mesh at the same time because all I can think about it music – I live and breathe it. I just eat, do music and spend time with the people I love”.

A bright individual encouraged by his constant motivators, it’s no surprise he's built an armour pedestaled by his self-assuredness and willingness to make sacrifices. “Hope is what sticks out for me and what’s gotten me to where I am today – just a little bit of hope can get you anywhere. I just want people to get hope out of my music”. Shooting for the stars is not just a motto for ZPLUTO, but a mantra for others to follow closely behind. “I see a lot of people who see opportunities but just won’t go for them. Chase that, go for it! If you really want this and you’re really passionate you’d do anything. You won’t sleep, you won’t eat, you’ll spend long nights in your mum’s car. If you want to be in the big leagues, you’ve got to do what the big leagues are doing”.

With his upcoming single “Paper Chase” scheduled to release early next month, ZPLUTO is making moves in the Australian music scene while simultaneously pushing forward his creative endeavours.
