Doechii Wastes No Time in the Rapid-fire "Bitch I'm Nice"

Pushing viral TikTok hits to being a signed TDE artist is a pretty impressive pipeline, but with the release of her latest single “Bitch I’m Nice,” Doechii has proved once again that the top is where she belongs.

Hip-hop has never been in a healthier state when it comes to the resurgence of female rappers. From Flo Milli to Rico Nasty to BIA, each makes it imperative to find and steep in their unique essence. Doechii has effortlessly done just that: her bark is as tough as her bite and there’s no other artist you could mistake her for. We’ve watched her wear every kind of sub-sound in hip-hop, proving that beyond a rapper, she’s an artist. Featuring production from Kal Banx, Diego Ave, Bankroll, and Grizzly, “Bitch I’m Nice” is an anthem for everyone who is no longer wasting a single minute not being obsessed with themselves.

While doubling its length would have been ideal, keeping “Bitch I’m Nice” at just over a minute was strategic. Replaying it ends up being a subconscious choice, leaving you needing another dose. Doechii doesn’t need to fill space with fluff; she says what she needs to say and sees herself out.

What’s most beautiful about Doechii’s recent bloom is that her debut EP, Oh the Places You'll Go, was completely self-funded and is what put her on the map. She’s at the top because she knew she belonged there and invested in that truth, torching any limiting beliefs that stood in the way. Doechii was born to be a star and is letting nothing stop that dream from being realized. Every Black woman who chooses her fullest potential beyond her perceived limitations gets to see themselves in Doechii’s reign, which makes rooting for her even easier.
