Lolo Zouaï Takes Us on a Sensual "Ride" to Female Empowerment

Lolo Zouaï is really out here doing the mostm and we couldn't be more in love with all her work. From modeling in the S/S 19 Tommy Jeans campaign to creating stunning music for herself and others, including her work on H.E.R.'s debut album that won Zouaï a GRAMMY, she is pushing the boundaries on what it means to be a multi-talented artist. Her latest single, "Ride," is an exciting preview of her debut album,  High Highs to Low Lows, set to release April 19. The French-Algerian artist has self-proclaimed her music as "bittersweet bangers," and we couldn't think of a more fitting term. Drawing influence from classic R&B, Rai music, and Bay Area hip-hop, Zouaï has developed this magical power to have us completely in our feels with her passionate lyrics, while still throwing it back to her spectacularly produced songs with equally lively melodies.

"Ride" is no exception. It is the epitome of bedroom pop, created in her bedroom about her time in the bedroom. With the assistance of producer Stelios, Zouaï creates this sensual song about embracing her sexuality to feel empowered. She flawlessly blends elements of synth, pop, and R&B to put her spin on the classic tale of men being the one to control a one night stand. Her French-Algerian roots are put on display as she unexpectedly drops a few phrases in French, the language of love. Zouaï lives for the power she feels when she's on top. First, she "[makes] you fall in love, then [she leaves] you with your hands tied up."

Alongside the single, a dazzling music video was released. Seemingly straight from a movie, the video for "Ride" is just as dramatic and passionate as you would expect. Cast in neutral tones, with brief flashes of red, Zouaï seduces a biker who is entranced by her. As he's tied up, just as promised, she leaves him and takes his motorcycle. To find out what happens next, watch "Ride" down below:

Zouaï is also busy building up her tour resume. Selling out her own shows across 5 countries, opening up for Alina Baraz' completely sold out North American tour, she is now embarking on her own tour. In support of her debut album, Zouaï is going on the High Highs to Low Lows Tour with support from Jean Deaux. Dates can be found below:
