Luna Li and Raveena Invite Listeners Into a Lush Daydream With “Fantasy”

Like a connection made in the sonic heavens, the ever-talented Luna Li links up with sublime R&B vocalist Raveena for "Fantasy," a composition rich in textures. True to its name, this new single immediately summons the memory of the best daydreams, from its lush harp intro to its final bass throb.

Luna Li is a true instrumental prodigy, composing music that always carries a tinge of spirituality. “Fantasy” is no exception, as it quickly dives into themes of healing and soul-freeing imagination. Accompanied by flute-like melodies that rise and fall, a dreamscape is created and its doors gently opened.

Enter Raveena, who, with supple vocalizations, weaves a chorus that becomes nostalgic despite being elegantly presented as something entirely new. “Fantasy is keeping me alive / Laying me down, my thoughts have wings like butterflies / Fictional healing, realized,” she sings, as each instrument lands as delicately as a soft drizzle.

In the midst of fluttering harp strings and marching snare hits, a perfect connection is made between two artists destined to meet in a world of music meant to soothe. “Fantasy” is an aromatic balm, a cup of tea: something meant to settle the soul and cancel the noise of a world always in motion.

Part of Luna Li’s sophomore album, When a Thought Grows Wings, “Fantasy” adds to a collection of songs that truly bring the artist’s imagination into the sunlight for all to admire. Each track has a delicate, personal feel, enhanced by the technical skill Luna Li displays across harps, violins, and many other instruments.

If thoughts could truly grow wings, there is no doubt that in their purest form they would mimic the sounds of “Fantasy,” finding their trajectory into the hearts of others. The nearly four minutes the song lasts feels far too short—for the moment of tranquility it provides is worth dreaming that it could last a lifetime.
