4EVR MICHAEL Uniquely Bridges Pop and Trap on His Debut, "NORTHFACE"
On his first single, New York newcomer 4EVR MICHAEL bends genres, displays his vocal abilities, and exercises versatility as both a writer and producer. Melodic raps over trap instrumentals have been abundant among New York artists in the last several years. Artists such as A Boogie wit da Hoodie have built a foundation for forward thinking hip-hop that breaks away from its traditional roots.
On "NORTHFACE," 4EVR MICHAEL pushes boundaries and builds upon this foundation by incorporating pop elements in new and exciting ways.
The song begins with 4EVR MICHAEL's smooth and youthful voice capturing the audience's attention. Once the chorus begins, trap-inspired bass compliments the melodic chorus to create a truly infectious groove. "NORTHFACE" establishes him as not only a talented singer/songwriter, but also a producer with his own sound and vision.
4EVR MICHAEL teams up with director TASHI to create a visual that is equally captivating. The video shows him in the Bronx sporting an oversized Northface jacket in a cartoonish fashion. The music video captures the adolescent experience in a colorful and nostalgic manner.
Pop vocals over hard hitting production cause "NORTHFACE" to get stuck in your head long after your first listen. This impeccable debut single shows huge potential for the young artist. 4EVR MICHAEL is definitely a New York artist to watch as he continues to build his catalog and refuses to be boxed in by genres or expectations.
