Solo artists Dylan Fraser and Alaska Reid have joined forces to create an intriguing new artist project under a magical name. Their debut single “Chill Out” introduces an exciting direction for these combined creative forces, cultivating a nostalgic yet forward-thinking atmosphere. With Fraser hailing from Scotland and Reid from the U.S., influences and cultures come together to launch this 17th century inspired duo: Witch Post.

“Chill Out” embodies the best of alt rock, with gritty guitar and raw vocals from both parties that achieves the perfect balance of soft and hard. Lyrically, the two artists engage in a back and forth dialogue, a messy exchange of energy that matches the song’s production flawlessly. Nodding to a distinct era of music is hard to do authentically and with new perspective, but “Chill Out” achieves a pure dedication to 90’s rock with ease.

On the sonic inspiration behind the track, the pair shares, “We wanted to draw elements from bands such as the Pixies, Sonic Youth, Hole to create this rough round the edges track. It’s blood pumping through the veins and outbursts of emotional confusion that flow throughout this song. Diving into the venomous tongue that comes with a relationship breaking down.” With references this cool and execution as spot in their debut single, the future of Witch Post is certainly bright.

Pulling from the vast horizon of American pop and the abrasive quality of Scottish rock n’ roll, Fraser and Reid embark on an inspiring endeavor together, building on what they’ve developed during their respective solo careers. Witch Post is surely One To Watch and we can’t wait to follow their journey together. In the meantime, “Chill Out” will be on infinite repeat until their next offering.
