Back with his first single of 2021, rising R&B icon Ant Clemons returns with "Story of My Life". Following the success of his 2020 debut project HAPPY 2 BE HERE, Clemons has remained relatively silent, outside a track with Justin Timberlake. With a newly earned (and long overdue) Grammy under his belt, "Story of My Life" sees the New Jersey singer reflecting on his past, his newfound fame, and everything in-between.

Though still an up-and-coming artist, Clemons has collaborated with some of the biggest names in music. While his work has led him to crossing paths with legendary figures like Pharrell, Kanye West, Beyoncé, and SZA, "Story of My Life" provides a more intimate look into Clemons' most formative moments.

From the guitars laden with washed-out reverberation to Clemons' pure and dulcet vocal candor, "Story of My Life" provides fans with a rare moment of tenderness and vulnerability. One of the most profound aspects of the track stems from Clemons' ability to weave together the nostalgia and bittersweet memories into living, breathing lines of sonic poetry.

It is truly inspiring to hear somebody reflect on his refusal to conform to a 9-5 job in one moment and in the next embellish on his encounters with Pharrell and Kanye West. Even the track's finale is a strong meditation on his artistic journey, with a chip-tune rendition of his 2020 hit "Aladdin" bringing his listeners into the present. Through his hypnotic and impassioned R&B prowess, Ant Clemons conveys a simple message: Even if you don't know me yet, it's only a matter of time.

"Story of My Life" is a beautiful and sentimental meditation on change and progress that looks to the past in order to move forward. With a unique story that only he can tell, his newest single combines his astonishing narrative with his signature R&B style. Thankfully, a follow up to HAPPY 2 BE HERE is in the works, as many fans (myself included) were worried that the only release we would get from the young artist this year would come in the form of more leaks.

Till then, listen to  "Story of My Life" below:
