Ashnikko Gives Her Rage a Sonic Form in the Explosive "You Make Me Sick!"

Ashnikko is back and better than ever on her latest single, "You Make Me Sick!" In the explosive track, the innovative artist teams up with longtime collaborators Slinger and Oscar Scheller, giving listeners a sonic experience full of tongue-in-cheek lyrics and instrumentals that arrive as a deliciously distorted force of nature.

"You Make Me Sick!" is epic and unrelenting, opening with nu-metal-inspired distorted guitar riffs and a menacing beat. In the song, Ashnikko cuts an ex-boyfriend down to size as her voice breaks into a screaming, powerful roar, making lyrics like "You fucking loser!" sound like a death blow to both the face and the ego. "I've decided to come back with my angriest, most cathartic song to date," Ashnikko explains. "My own personal rage room for me to smash my plates."

The music video, directed by Saam Farahmand, in classic Ashnikko-style, is equally gratifying and grotesque. The video starts out "normal" enough, with scenes of the alt-pop star dancing solo and with a group of blue-haired dancers. Then, as the music intensifies, clips of the artist growing mysterious black tumors all over her face intercut with visuals of her throwing up a strange black liquid into a tube that's interconnected with everyone else. It's insane and intriguing.

"You Make Me Sick" follows Ashnikko's hugely successful 2021 mixtape DEMIDEVIL and 2019 EP Hi, It's Me, which rocketed her straight onto the path of superstardom. Over the past year, she's performed on Late Night with Seth Meyers and Jimmy Kimmel Live! and she brought her wild world to life on her sold-out U.S. headline tour and Lollapalooza, Governor's Ball, Reading and Leeds, Bonnaroo, and more. Ashnikko already has big plans for the year ahead as she readies for her highly anticipated Coachella debut later this spring, with additional live dates confirmed across Asia, Australia/New Zealand, and more.
