Rising artist and rapper AUDREY NUNA continues to push the boundaries of her craft with the release of her new track, "IdgaF." The new track kicks off an enthralling new chapter of new releases, creating a fresh and edgy lane for NUNA.
"IdgaF" opens with a sneak peek of the chorus, with fuzzed-over vocals readying the listeners for the short yet impactful song. A blend of hushed vocals and vibey trap beats then take center stage as NUNA wastes no time telling listeners how she really feels. She declares in the insanely catchy chorus, "I don't give a fuck bout no lease on your Lambo / idgaf, AOC / Duck a scandal / idgaf, if you aint me, what you mad for?"
The accompanying visualizer is a captivating editorial-inspired visual created by NUNA herself using photos by Louisa Meng. Each portrait reveals a different side of the multi-faceted artist, donning a variety of aesthetically pleasing fits that range from innocent to intimidating.
A first-generation Korean-American, NUNA grew up in New Jersey and started singing before she could talk. In 2018, she was enrolled at NYU's Clive Davis Institute before being discovered by her manager, Anwar, online. Taking classes by day, NUNA would take the 10 p.m. train uptown to Anwar's studio, write all night, take the four a.m. bus back to NYU, grab a few hours of sleep, and go to class. She soon decided to take a gap year to focus on music. "I don't like the feeling of half-assing anything," says the rising star.
Her self-described "neurotic" attitude quickly proved fruitful. After self-releasing a series of six tracks, NUNA inked a record deal with Arista Records. She arrived on the scene with her single "Soufflé," a quirky genre-bending trap-influenced track sporting razor-sharp lyricism and a self-directed visual with a fierce aesthetic. NUNA plans to release a larger project later this year following a string of buzzworthy songs since signing to Arista, which has us and fans alike on the edge of our seats.
