BEL's "Cold Brew" Is For Anyone Who Has Ever Felt the Pain of Being Ghosted

Sometimes getting over a situationship is harder than getting over a real relationship. If you’re a member of the delusional girl summer club, you already know that romanticizing a stranger is our favorite pastime. Luckily for us, indie pop sweetheart BEL is back with her new single, “Cold Brew,” to let us know we’re not alone.

Following her last two striking releases, “Are You Okay?” and “Woman on Fire,” the LA-based artist continues to hold nothing back on her latest track. “Cold Brew” is the frustratingly relatable anthem for those of us who get attached a little too quickly and easily. The new single tells the story of trying to play it cool amidst the disappointment of a failed connection, even though you’re actually still hurting.

Teaming up with producers Jack Laboz and Jon Santana, BEL delivers us an infectious indie pop earworm filled with the perfect balance of playful instrumentation and brutally honest lyrics.

“I wrote this song after I was ghosted by someone I went on a few dates with” shares BEL. “When it’s so early on in dating, it’s really easy to get ahead of myself and imagine all the things this person could be—imagine a perfect future together. It’s a song about trying to be the ‘chill girl’ and trying to act totally unfazed even though I was actually really hurt.”

2023 is shaping up to be an exciting year for BEL. Along with the release of "Cold Brew," BEL is also set to support Boyish in June on their upcoming tour and take the stage at Mind The Gap festival in August.
