Clever pop songstress Brooke Alexx continues to explore uncharted waters in her new single “Hot Like You,” an ode to women, all their beautiful glory, and all the ways the young starlet wishes she could be. A self-proclaimed girl-next-door herself, Alexx’s pop songwriting channels a unique quality that matches her personality to a tee. Her latest effort explores the in-betweens of overarching feelings—relatable, modern ideas that we all know all too well but might not have been dissected at length through lyricism.

“Hot Like You” follows a tried and true pop rock structure with its melodic guitar building to a breezy, anthemic chorus. It’s the perfect sonic home for its individual take on personal beauty and hyping your friends up when they deserve it. Alexx describes herself as a typical type of beauty, while proclaiming how badly she wants to be “Hot Like You.” To our young songwriter, this means turning heads all day and making jaws drop.

The track, like all of Alexx’s sharp lyricism, is extremely self-aware and even makes sure both the audience and the subject know she’s not trying to come off as jealous. “Being hot is a mindset, so go out and do whatever makes you feel hot,” shares the rising star. It’s a refreshing take on insecurity and comparison, prioritizing celebrating the girls on the receiving end instead of stereotypical aggressive envy. It’s a new take on the end credits banger that concludes all of our favorite early 2000s high school classics, showcasing Alexx’s individual songwriting approach and natural talent for speaking the pop language.

In addition to the three singles already released this year, Brooke Alexx was recently awarded a first-place prize in American Songwriter’s Song Contest for her viral hit “All My Exes’ Moms,” the track that introduced the world at large to Alexx’s clever lyricism. “Hot Like You” is another charmingly fun extension of this talent, and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for this rising pop star.
