Cara+Troy Drops Debut EP "PROTOSTAR" Just in Time For Cuffing Season

There has never been a more competitive time in history to be an up-and-coming artist. In an industry plagued by social media omnipresence and an increased interest in trend-following rather than trend-making, you wouldn’t be at fault for looking at the current state of culture and thinking that things used to be better. Despite this, artists continue to innovate with exciting sounds and styles previously unseen, and Cara+Troy is no exception.

Sibling duo Cara and Troy Bishop emerge this fall as a much-needed breath of fresh air with their debut EP PROTOSTAR. Their self-produced sound blends alternative R&B, hip-hop, and jazz into something entirely unique—music simultaneously lofty and grounded, psychedelic and spiritual, relatable and fantastic. The project is instilled with a quality that levels nostalgia with futurism, inviting comparisons to mid-2010 projects like Baby Daddi, Toro Y Rome Vol. 1, and K+. With cuffing season just around the corner, PROTOSTAR is your own personal soundtrack to introspection and self-reflection as the nights grow longer.

From the siblings trading verses on “CHASE THE MORNING” to the laid-back yet electric energy of “KNOW THE WAY,” PROTOSTAR is a powerful introduction to two artists who are nothing if not charismatic. With more music hopefully planned for the near-future, few acts are as deserving of your eyes and ears like Cara+Tro.
