Revered for her captivating pop songwriting, Catie Turner is lighting the fire on a new era of her artistry with her latest single, “Friends.”

“Friends” is a stirring tale of mixed signals and betrayal coped with by comedy. Turner invites listeners into a folkier sonic palette, with acoustic guitar and a light kick drum setting the scene for her story to unfold. The song brightens and grows as fingerpicked guitars and swelling cymbals shimmer onto the track, the emotional depth building with intention.

Turner’s powerhouse vocals really take flight in “Friends,” especially as the bridge explodes into lush layers of harmonies. Her voice soars to new heights, driving the emotional momentum forward. Turner also has an unparalleled talent for telling a story with each word, infusing hurt into vocal flips, strength into sustained belts, and leftover love into whispers.

“The song came to be in late 2023 after a conversation including the three girl-vent essentials: rage, retrospect, and humor," shares Turner. "It’s about realizing that you, once again, are easily swindled by words and maybe need to use critical thinking (once). Actions are everything, and it’s a lesson I’m constantly learning.”

“Friends” is an enchanting example of Catie Turner’s storytelling abilities, backed by her vocal prowess and expressive arrangement, and an exciting first step into this new era of her music.
