Cheridomingo Fight Their Demons In New Sun-Soaked Music Video [Premiere] | THE NOISE

Ventura-based band Cheridomingo, comprised of vocalist/guitarist Anthony Avina, lead guitarist Adam Dobrucki, bassist Alex Gonzalez, and drummer Simon Beck, dive deep into their internal struggles on their latest single, "Like a Chain." Blending elements of indie-rock, pop-punk, and alternative rock with an immense passion, the band fights their intrusive inner voices, backed by dynamic instrumentation that explodes right out of the speakers.

The single opens with a brooding rhythm section and warm yet moody, sun-soaked guitar riffs. Avin's emotionally raw vocals chime in, reflecting on their mental state and the "ocean of doubt" they find themselves drowning in. "Waiting/ Try to hear myself out/ And maybe/I'll find a way out," he croons over the intense production. The track packs a considerable punch on the radiant chorus as Avin's vocals soar on powerful lines like "Throw it away/ And laugh it off/ It's always the same..."It feels like a chain/ Around the neck/ It pulls and it strains" amid towering guitar riffs and mosh-worthy melodies.

The accompanying music video, directed by Madie Ramser, is a vibrant visual that sees the SoCal group matching the passion of the track tenfold with a stellar outdoor performance framed with the beauty of nature and the glow of the setting California sun. "Making the video was challenging since none of us are huge fans of music videos, and we're super DIY about it, but working with Madie always makes it feel like it isn't the end of the world," explained the band. "We're grateful she was able to steer us in a visually striking direction and it's my favorite video of ours to date."

"Like A Chain" will be featured on the band's upcoming album Shapeshift, which reflects the album's extensive runtime that seamlessly transitions between genres, mirroring the band's diverse sound. Its lyrics delve into a profound struggle with self-doubt and societal inequality. Produced by Zach Tuch, Shapeshift oscillates between raw, intense moments and introspective reflections, ultimately embracing the complexities of a relentless journey toward self-acceptance. In a music landscape often associated with conformity, Cheridomingo carves their own path, serving as a rallying cry for those who feel they don't quite fit in.
