“And sometimes / I'm so overwhelmingly / Caught in a dichotomy / Of what I said and what I really mean.”

After a two year hiatus and a signing with UMG’s Mercury Records, Dayglow has returned to the scene with “Every Little Thing I Say I Do.” Equal parts sunny and self-reflective, “Every Little Thing I Say I Do” takes the idea of being your own worst critic and turns it into a universal, lighthearted anthem for the people who need to hear it most.

“Every Little Thing I Say I Do” dives into the mind of an artist dealing with chronic perfectionism. The track begins with a declaration in the form of a rhetorical question, “Oh don't you know that in my life, I get up so high, Just to get insecure?” Throughout the track, Dayglow deals with the fear of being perceived, from staying up at night and dissecting each and every potential thought about himself to questioning what he says versus what he does. Whether or not you are an artist, you are bound to find a piece of yourself within “Every Little Thing I Say I Do.”

Dayglow explains, “‘Every Little Thing I Say I Do’ is a song where I’m poking fun at my perfectionism and my desire for control. It’s a pretty ridiculous claim–that I not only do everything perfectly, but also for your benefit–but that’s the point. It’s a toxic and impossible way of being, yet this is the mode I unfortunately tend to be running from in my little homosapien brain. I write songs as a way to better understand myself, and I tend to be fairly harsh sometimes. Once a song is done though, I always feel like I grew up a little bit, and that I was able to see a more realistic glimpse of myself from the outside. My hope is that the same effect happens for listeners, too. I hope to make songs that help people self-reflect and become nicer, because I surely always need to. They can totally just dance to the song too, though. It’s pretty damn catchy.”

Despite his worries of not being perfect enough, if there is one thing Dayglow does best, it is crafting the perfect DIY. indie-pop song. With “Can I Call You Tonight?” and “Medicine” under his belt, Dayglow has a consistent track record of writing innovative feel-good songs with hooks that you just can’t help but sing along to. “Every Little Thing I Say I Do” is no exception. Its punchy guitar riffs and head-nodding hook set the perfect backdrop for the summer days ahead.
